A five year old and an eleven year old are not the same child in a smaller or bigger body. They think, feel and learn in completely different ways. This short guide shows you how, so you can understand your child at every stage.
Written by the team who has guided thousands of children over 20 years.
Their body. Their mind. Their heart. Their character. Most activities only build one of these. But here is what most parents are never told. These four areas look completely different at age 5 than they do at age 11. Understanding your child's stage is how you truly help them grow.
At four to six years old, everything is new. Your child is discovering what their body can do, how to manage strong emotions, and how to be around other children.
This is the foundation stage. What they learn now about focus, control and fairness becomes the base for everything that follows.

At four to six years old, children fall often. Their body is always moving, but they have not yet learned how to control their muscles. They are still building strength. At this age, sloppy movement and losing balance is completely normal.
A four to six year old finds it hard to remember more than three instructions at a time. Left and right still get mixed up. If you ask for too much at once, they get confused. This is simply how their brain works at this age.
Children aged four to six feel everything fully. When they are happy, they shine. When they are upset, they can shut down. And when they get excited, they find it very hard to slow down or stop. Their brakes are still developing.
At four to six, children love playing with others, but they are also very competitive. Losing can feel like the end of the world. Winning can lead to bragging. Good sportsmanship is a skill they have not learned yet.

Watch the free masterclass"He joined when he was four. Within a month I noticed positive changes with his confidence. He has learnt discipline, looking out for others, setting goals and hard work. These skills have helped him in school as well."
Jenny N."My son has made amazing progress. His confidence has skyrocketed. He has become so much better with his coordination, strength and flexibility. Highly recommend for anyone looking to boost their kid's confidence."
Nat N.Many people call seven to nine the golden age. Your child is emotionally stable and loves to learn, but still looks up to adults, so your guidance matters more now than at any other age.
The bond between a child and their teacher is at its strongest here. It is the perfect window to build real skills and real character.

At seven to nine years old, fine motor skills are still developing, so technique is not perfect yet. They can look a little clumsy when they jump, spin or move quickly. This is exactly what you should expect at this age.
Seven to nine year olds are bright. But they lose focus the moment something more interesting happens nearby. Sometimes they even over-think simple things and forget them because their mind is racing.
On a normal day, a seven to nine year old is calm and loves a challenge. But when they are suddenly put on the spot, fear can take over and they freeze. This is one of the most common struggles at this age.
Children aged seven to nine love talking with others, especially adults. They also have a powerful sense of right and wrong, and will speak up, sometimes interrupting, the moment they feel something is unfair.

Kim B."Since attending Invincible's classes, my kids have become more confident and disciplined. They teach the kids the physicality of martial arts but also important mentality skills to use in everyday life."
Sheryl P.At ten to twelve, your child is clever and physically capable. But they become very aware of what their friends think, and that changes everything about how they show up.
Their real challenge now is not ability. It is staying motivated and confident when fitting in feels safer than standing out.

By ten to twelve years old, children often have good technique and control. The real challenge is effort. They can get lazy and sloppy on the things that come easily to them, because it feels boring.
Ten to twelve year olds have excellent critical thinking, sometimes sharper than adults. But their decision-making is still catching up, which is why they can choose the easy option instead of the smart one.
At ten to twelve, emotions can swing widely. This is science, not bad behaviour. A lot of their effort depends on whether they think something is cool or not.
By ten to twelve, children care deeply about what their friends think. If something feels uncomfortable, they hold back to stay safe. Standing out in front of others can feel risky to them.

You cannot change how a child develops. But when you understand where they are, you can give them exactly what they need at the right time. That is the difference between an activity that fills an hour, and one that shapes who they become.
In our free parent masterclass, we show you exactly how to support this at home, in just 20 minutes. See how it works below.
Other activities are not bad. Many are wonderful for children. But most focus on a single area. Here is what makes the environment at Invincible different.
At least 2 to 3 times a week for results, and more is better. Over 14 years teaching thousands of children, we see a big difference between once, 2 to 3 times, and 4 to 5 times a week, both physically and mentally. If you want help keeping your child consistent and motivated between classes, that is exactly what we cover in the free parent masterclass.
A 10-Level belt system gives your child a clear goal. Every 12 weeks there is a Level-UP Day where your child can be graded and earn their next level. Grading is holistic, covering strength, skills, flexibility, memory, presentation and mentality. We make children earn each level, rather than handing out participation awards.
Yes. We run classes all year, including school holidays. We are only closed on public holidays, so your child can keep their momentum going.
It is not just kicks and punches, or only confidence. We take a holistic approach, preparing children physically, mentally and socially to be extraordinary in modern life, using self-defence, gymnastics and leadership skills.
STORM stands for Strong Team Of Role Models. It is a special team of young athletes who lead and inspire others, building leadership, communication and interpersonal skills often not taught in school. It is invitation only, for children showing focus, attitude and skill, and it is one of the many steps your child can grow toward on their journey.
You have already done the hard part, understanding how your child grows. The next 20 minutes show you how to turn that understanding into real change at home.
